The FIFA Women’s World Cup is the most important international competition in women’s football. The championship is held every four years since the 1991. The inaugural tournament held in China in 1991 as USA beat Norway by 2-1 in final and won first FIFA Women’s world cup. Japan are the current champions, while most successful teams at FIFA Women’s world cup are Team Germany and United States with two titles each. The seventh edition of FIFA Women’s World Cup; the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be played in Canada from 6 June to 5 July 2015.
Brazilian forward Marta is one of the top goal scorers in FIFA Women’s World Cup along with German striker Birgit Prinz. Both have scored 14 goals in the previous competitions. Birgit Prinz was named FIFA World Player of the Year in 2003, 2004 and 2005 while Marta won both the Golden Ball award as the best player and the Golden Boot award as the top scorer in 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
